"Local" Drinks across the World
This month from Spain...
Sangria is a summer beverage, originating in Spain, made of red wine sweetened and flavored with citrus or other fruit and served over ice. The blood-red color of this beverage inspires its name, which is derived from the Spanish word, Sangre, meaning "blood."

  A good sangría needs a good wine as a base, since in most recipes the wine remains the dominant ingredient. Soda water, various liqueurs, cognac or brandy are sometimes added. Fresh, fruity, delicious, Sangria can be made in any number of styles from spicy to mild to rich to bubbly.

Sangria is most typically served at informal social gatherings much like punch, from a punchbowl with the express purpose of communal enjoyment.

When prepared in bars and restaurants, it is often for the benefit of tourists, who may pay accordingly.

In the United Kingdom and India the attractions of Spain are often summed up by the phrase, "Sun, sea, and sangría"!!

Club Tito in Goa

Cocktail Recipes

PAIN KILLER
  • 3 oz Dark Rum
    1 oz Pineapple juice
    1 oz . Orange juice
    1/2 oz. Coconut cream
    2-3 dashes Nutmeg
    Cherry

Combine all liquid ingredients with cracked ice in a cocktail shaker.
Shake well and pour into highball glass over ice. Top off with nutmeg and cherry.

Drunken Humor

A fellow came into a bar and ordered a martini. Before drinking it, he removed the olive and carefully put it into a glass jar. Then he ordered another martini and did the same thing.

After an hour, when he was full of martinis and the jar was full of olives, he staggered out.

"Well," said a customer, "I never saw anything as peculiar as that!"

"What's so peculiar about it?" the bartender said.

"His wife sent him out for a jar of olives."
